I bought this one as a gift after 3 years of use (still going strong) with an older edition of the same model. The gift was well-received, and seems to work quite well for him.
For mine, after nearly 4 years, the clip mechanism that holds it to the suction cup mount is not quite as “springy” as it once was … sometimes requiring some tinkering to make it stay without sliding off. So far, this is the only issue. It has been reliable, functional, and incredibly useful. It has paid for itself many times over.
Highly recommended! In the future, I would probably get a more expensive model that integrates well into a modern laser jamming system, since many of the police in my area seem to be switching to laser.
Nintendo Wii help please?
I have the game Blazing Angels Squadrons of Photo Radar Jammer WWII and I am at the Desert Renaissance and I have to take 3 photos of german camps and my radar says nothing can you give me some help please.

All of us hate getting speeding tickets while driving. Radar detectors have been developed to help us get rid of this problem. Radar detectors alert us wherever there are law enforcement offers around us. They give us enough time to get alert and slow down in order to avoid the speeding tickets.
However, the benefits of radar detectors do not end here. The new innovation in this field is the GPS Radar Detector which is a lot more advanced and fulfills a lot of additional needs. Various companies are developing advanced radar detectors with GPS facilities to alert you in order to avoid all speed traps. Radar detectors having the GPS capabilities in-built in it offer a large number of advantages and benefits.
You can connect your GPS radar detectors to your desktop Photo Radar Jammer computer to your laptop as well. By doing this, you will be able to upload necessary information as well as all known location carrying stop light radars and photo radars on the website. Various drivers upload this information on Internet and you can make use of this information for your own good. Once you upload the information on your GPS Radar Detector, your device will alert you as soon as you are about to approach a speed trap.
Various models of Radar detectors with GPS capabilities are now available in the market that can help make your life hassle free and easier. The price of this device varies depending on its manufacturing company as well as the various features that it offers. If all you need is modest equipment, you should go for the companies offering affordable prices. However, if you want to buy an advanced equipment offering multiple features, keep in mind that you will need to spend a considerable amount of money. Make sure that you buy a product that works well and lasts for a long time.
To sum up, it is the right time to buy a GPS radar detector in order to get extra protection for getting speed tickets while driving anywhere in the city. However, installing a radar detector in the car doesn’t mean that you can drive anywhere at a breakneck speed and put the lives of others as well as your own at risk. The only purpose of the speeding ticket is to save yourself from getting speeding tickets, not from accidents. Always drive safe and maintain road courtesy. Follow all traffic rules and use the GPS radar detectors to your advantage.

I’ve used many radar detectors, and have travelled cross-country many times for thousands of miles. This radar detector is amazing. in some cases, it would pick-up radar traps up to 3 miles away, no kidding. This thing just works, and works well. forget the other brands out there, Bel is the king!
Mine went dead after about a year. No mistreatment, just did not wake up when I turned the car on.
Don’t buy junk from a company that sells junk (unless you just want to buy a new one every year).
Bought this as a replacement for one that was stolen. Great detection range, few false alarms. Need better windshield mount. Bought better replacement mount directly from Beltronics website. Highly recommend this product, much cheaper than first ticket.
I bought mine cheap from a person who was pissed for getting an expensive speeding ticket. Apparently, he thought that it would make him invincible. No radar detector can.
I would not say that it had saved me any tickets because I typically don’t drive over the limit. But I did pick up many early warnings and it gives me the peace in mind when I do need to catch up a schedule.
In my area, Ka band is the most common radar used by the cops. Whenever the Ka band is alarmed, it almost 100% real. Laser is also used but not very common. I’ve seen fewer than 5 times in a year but it is most lethal. By time you react to it, you are already locked on. I’d recommend Laser Veil to give you the extra 2 seconds needed to to react.
K and X bands were the most frequent alarms but 100% of them were false because of their location dependency. Fortunately, RX65 allows you to turn off any band. After I turned off K and X, RX-65 has become a lot more pleasant to use.
Here is a top of the line match anything microwave detector for the price.
Only things it lacks, stealth and GPS data base.
Otherwise works as well as my Bel STi but $200+ less. Put it in my not go as fast PU.
The Honda Si has the Bel STi
If you do not need stealth and a hard case, this is a rare deal.
Pro Great Deal for the price
Con No auto dim or stealth

and Stay away from Cobra and RMR radar detectors
Cobra
my current setup is V1+STi-R and Redline
This is a very good unit!!! I have an issue with the sound though. I have an RX55 and the sound on that unit is loud. The sound comes on loud enough for the alert, however you can’t hear the verbal announcement. The unit is fairly heavy also. Little pricey as well. Some better units out there for less money.
This is my first radar unit. I do a lot of highway travel in Arizona. Unlike some of my friends that have detectors I do not consider myself a “speeder.” However, in Arizona, the common practice on the highway is to drive at least 5 to 10 mph over the speed limit. There have been times I’ve been driving at 80 mp only to notice someone right on my bumper, who will then give you a dirty look or the one finger salute when they pass you at 90. Drive at the speed limit in Arizona and you’re setting yourself up for a road rage situation. I’m not saying that you should drive at an unsafe speed just because other people are. My point is that just to keep up with traffic you have to go somewhat over the limit.
I’ve had this detector for about a month now and have been satisfied with its performance. It has warned me several times when a cop with a radar gun is ahead. I don’t think laser has really caught on in this state so I do not know how well the laser detector works. Arizona has a lot of “photo radar” locations and I know people that have bought detectors after getting caught with photo radar. What they do not realize is that the permanent photo locations use sensors in the road to detect vehicle speed. A detector is useless. The movable photo radar vehicles do use radar though.
Pros:
* The unit, while a little on the heavy side is fairly compact.
* The display is very bright and easily readable day and night, even with polarized sunglasses.
* The volume is adjustable and when set at high is quite loud. My hearing is not that great and it is fine for me. My daughter even tells me to turn it down sometimes when she is trying to listen to music on her headphones in the back seat.
* There are various detection modes and options that you can set. However the “autodetect” mode works very well.
* The smart cord is very handy if you have the detector located somewhere hard to reach.
* There are a lot of nice features which you can read about in the product description which I won’t repeat.
* It comes in a nice carrying case and they provide extra suction cups.
Cons:
* The manual, while fairly well written, is dated. It describes the Safety Warning System (SWS) as a new technology that is growing every day. However, SWS was started many years ago and never caught on. It’s my understanding that the company that create SWS declared bankruptcy a few years ago and almost no agencies use SWS anymore. The SWS website the manual tells you to go to is gone. I have never had a SWS alarm and don’t think it’s used anymore in Arizona.
* Every time you power it on it goes through a start-up mode and sounds off all of its various alarms. It’s very annoying.
* While the display is very bright, the red alphanumeric display reminds me of old technology… something you’d find on a 20 year old LED wristwatch. I’d prefer amber, green or blue.
* In Phoenix the detector sounds off , with a low grade signal, when approaching many traffic lights. They must have radar emitting detectors set up for red light cameras and to detect traffic flow. There is probably a way to program the detector to ignore these. However I get a lot of false alarms at many major intersections. This is not really a con of the unit,it is doing what it is supposed to. Just a negative of using detectors. You will get false alarms at times.
Overall I’m satisfied with both the performancea and feature of the unit.
This is my first radar detector, so I cannot compare it to any others. I’ve been driving with it for a few weeks now and I’m very pleased with it. While it is a lower cost unit, it has worked amazingly well. It’s built very well and feels very solid, with good feeling buttons and a nice display. The included suction cup mount has worked well so far, as long as the glass is clean and has no chemicals (i.e. windex residue) on the surface. Bightness and volumes are adjustable for any situation, from daytime loud music windows open to quiet, nighttime drives. I hardwired it into my car with the “Escort 79-001059-01 Direct Wire Power Cord for Radar and Laser Detectors” sold on amazon, and while this detector is not listed as a compatible model it works perfectly. Overall a good economy radar detector that works how it should, hopefully itll last a long time!
First of all keep in mind this is a low cost radar detector. For the price it’s able to detect Ka band pretty well. Ka is the only band I care about because California Hwy Patrol currently only use Ka band. So what I really want to do is turn off X and K band, but u’re not allowed to do that! and that’s my first issue. You can disable X band, but only works in City mode. Btw, AutoScan does very little as far as I can tell. But there’s no way to disable K band, which is usually stationary radar, those digital display that tells u how fast u’re going and road embedded traffic speed sensors etc. This would have still given this device 4 star, but it only gets 3 from me because the lowest volume is way too loud. It’s so loud that I’m unable to just ignore the false alarm. It’s so loud that sometimes I have to cover my ears and I’m considering to just mute the whole thing. I guess you get what you pay for.
Bought this for my very picky wife who won’t slow down. She says its the best one she has used. That’s all I care about. No tickets yet.
I’ve had the V955 since December 2007 and I haven’t been disappointed. The feature for detecting laser is more of a novelty than anything. I’ve been hit 2 times with it (luckily I was going the speed limit) and it was a somewhat pleasant change from the tones that are usually emitted from it. The feature I like the most is the really long detection range. It gives advanced notice for speed traps which has saved me a few times. The only problem I’ve had with it was with the windshield mount. If it gets really cold/hot out the suction cups don’t work well. I’m on my 4th set of suction cups (not sure what these were originally for) and these seem to work better than the 2 sets that originally came with it.
I have a 2 units of the 995 and the RX65- all high end detectors from Beltronics. Got all three within a year time span and after 1.5-2years, they start saying “Service required” calibration issue. Looks like this a common problem with their high end detectors. Had to send 2 of the units in for repair and my last unit went out with the same problem.
The detectors work great when they dont have this issue.
I just purchased some accessories for my V995 from Beltronics. While on-line with them I asked about the warranty with Amazon. Here is the results of that on-line conversation (below). I have not received the unit yet, so cannot say much about it, but will report back later. Just wanted you to know that it does get a warranty when bought from Amazon direct.

Welcome to Beltronics.! An online representative will be with you shortly. You are number 1 in the queue. Your wait time will be approximately 1 and 0 seconds. Thank you for waiting.

You are now chatting with ‘Brian’

you: Hi, I just ordered a cord and speaker for the 995. I did not buy the 995 from you, rather I just purchased it directly from Amazon do to price. I have read that you have declined warranty with Amazon. What gives. Amazon is a retailer just like others.

Brian: You have read incorrectly, Amazon is fine.
you: Thank you.

Contrary to to the published information, this detector comes with a SMART CORD in the box!
Well, this little guy saved our butt when we were going to Canada through the bushy and dark New York upstate – the cop was hidden deep in the trees. and when the cop is far away behind you – it will also tell you… but otherwise its just as effective as eye sight i wouldn’t rely completely on it – even the most expensive one will not save your butt or the 360 degree one. Its a handy tool to have (also much hated) so hide it if you get pulled over lol :] goodluck!!!
For the price of this product one would think it should last longer than the 4 months it lasted for me. After four months the product has died and no luck on product support from Cobra. So I am only left to believe that Cobra makes an inferior product that does not last. Save the money and just buy from another company. From my short time with a working product it seemed to work but is nothing greater than much cheaper products I’ve had before.
Does not have all the user interface bells and whistles – but works really well
