I recently purchased the Cobra XRS 9545 and tested it out on my trip from Birmingham to New Orleans. I was not pleased with the performance of this unit at all. The radar detector would not go off until you were right up on the cop and even then would only show one bar as the strength and sometimes wouldn’t even make a sound at all. Also, the laser detector on my unit did not function at all (I know a police officer and used his lidar gun to verify). I used this Cobra for 3 weeks around Birmingham as well, and was plagued by false alerts constantly. If you are thinking about buying this radar I would recommend saving your money and buying a halfway decent radar detector. I have returned the Cobra and just order a Beltronics V995 Vector Radar and Laser Detector (Black/Silver), after doing some research this time around. Hopefully the V995 will perform better.
